Abstract:)fromtheOysterSelectionBreedingProgramwerecompared.Oysterswereharvestedat360daysofagein2009andin2010andcomprised24and32full-sibfamilies,respectively.Alloystersinbothyearclasseswererearedunderthesameconditions.Shellheight,shelllength,shellwidth,totalweight,shellweight,meatweightandmeatratio(100%×meatweight/totalweight)weremeasuredin30oystersfromeachfamily.Growth-relatedtraitsshowedsignificantdifferencesbetweenthetwoyearclasses(<0.05).Therewasatendencyforoysterssampledin2009tohavelowershellheights,meatweightsandmeatratiosthanin2010,buttheirtotalweightswerehigherin2009.Exceptforthemeatratio,therewasasignificantpositivelinearcorrelationbetweenshellheightandtheothergrowth-relatedtraitsinbothyearclasses()and0.27±0.13,respectively.Allphenotypicandgeneticcorrelationsbetweentwogrowth-relatedtraitswerepositive.Therewasalsoadifferenceinthedegreeofcorrelationbetweentwotraits.Theuseofgrowth-relatedtraitsinbreedingprogramsdesignedtoimprovegrowthisdiscussed.
